C4RTEL is a duo project from Mexico formed by Tony Dark Eyes & Samuel Moran. I (Tony) felt the need a little bit more than a year ago to create something different from what I was doing at the moment, something more meaningful for me, something that spoke my mind freely, without restrains, combined with the music I like to play as a DJ. I called my friend Samuel, and he jumped on-board.
Being a DJ in Mexico these days and traveling every weekend to different cities within isn´t either easy or safe. The violence in which our beautiful country is submerged has printed awful experiences in our lives as well as beautiful ones. C4RTEL lives where these experiences collide. Every track we´ve done has a purpose and a story for us.
Sadly, for most people around the globe, the word "Cartel" equals to Mexico, violence and the drug war we´re living. Lots of negative attention towards our country for some years now. By naming the project C4RTEL, I´m trying to channel some of that negativity into our music, into our world and transform it all the way around. "Cartel" no longer means only bad things happening here, it has a new meaning now, a positive one.
C4RTEL is interested in achieving an evergrowing state of quality. I want this project to go as far as possible, to inspire countless lives and to bring joy and pride to my country and the upcoming real talents. To give me and Samuel the satisfaction on knowing that we are being as creative and original as we can be and help giving back positiveness to the Dance Music industry we all love.
