Praised for the remarkable agility, precision and warmth of her voice, and for her outstanding musicianship, Joji Altamera has established herself as one of her generation’s most sought-after singers. Paranaque born and musically bred, singer-musician Joji has been immersed in songs and melodies as early as three years old. Inspired and supported by her talented mother, Josephine and music-lover father, Jeorge, together with her two artistic elder brothers, Jayson and Jeff, and his multi-talented youngest brother James; she pursued singing at the age of nine.
Joji's passion for music thrived through years of extensive study and practice, trainings and workshops. Her mother consistently helped her hone her potential in singing as she would enroll her to various music schools such as the Center for Pop Music Phils., Belter Performing Arts and UMPi Workshops by The Company.
She has also participated in different singing contests and talent competitions. This kept her exposed to various musicians, artists and people in the music industry. In 2000, she joined a local singing contest wherein she met her vocal coach, Larry Reyes who trains and unleashes her wide vocal prowess up to the present. Later on, she continued to accept singing engagements whether it’s a mall show, functions, events like conferences, seminars, weddings, birthdays and other parties.
By age 16, Joji landed her first paying gig at a known Casino-hotel at Binangonan called the Thunderbird Resorts, where she covered songs by Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys and many others together with her first variety band, “RENUE.” They had performed in different hotels, function halls and event rooms around the metro such as the Hyatt hotel, Diamond, Manila Hotel, Sofitel, Peninsula Manila Hotel, Resorts world, etc.. Way back in her college days at Adamson University, she multi-tasked and manage her time in studying, joining extra-curricular activities and organization stuff at school and being in a band who does gigs every night. Surprisingly, she even graduated with flying colors in April 2014 wherein she received the Magna Cum Laude award despite her busy schedule in college.
In the present, Joji continues to share her passion and love for music. She still accepts bookings for different events and regular gig schedules. She is currently one of the vocalists of the Renue band and is also the lead vocalist of an indie band called Hunting Lilac.
Hopefully, she looks forward to be discovered and finally be seen on TV. She fully believes that God will bless her and that her big break will come in His perfect timing.
