Two Simple Tips to Overcome Stage Fright

One of the most common fears that people have is the fear of public speaking, which is akin to performing in public. This fear is cited more often that the fear of death!

Performing in public can seem intimidating. It’s normal to feel a bit anxious. Think of this as your body’s way of telling you that something good is about to happen as you stretch your boundaries and grow as a performer. Here are two simple tips to help you:

Practice well ahead of time so you’re confident of your performance. While you’re practicing, visualize yourself performing for a packed house eager to see you perform. When you actually perform, it will seem like you’ve done it already.

Most importantly, keep in mind, it’s all about sharing your material with the audience. Any fear you might have is caused entirely by thinking about yourself. Remember, your only job is to share your God-given gifts with the world so just focus on your material and the enjoyment the crowd will get from seeing you perform.

Keep these in mind the next time you’re preparing to “rock the house!”
