New District Know How To Laugh At Themselves

New District has been taking the music world by storm and have gotten a lot of attention recently. The extremely popular music blog by VICE, called Noisey, even wrote a satirical piece about the band. In it the author acknowledges the fact that Noisey readers do not want to hear about boy bands, but she feels as though she must write about them so that adult music fans will stay "cool" and know what tween girls are listening to.

She writes, “Look, I know the deal: you high-brow mfs don't read Noisey to learn about boy bands and tween pop stars, who despite all of their desperation and averageness are nevertheless destined for complete and total World Domination. I get it. But I'm doing you a goddamned favour. Four months from now you'll be stuck in your Grandma's living room with your ten year old nieces and nephews and they'll be screaming the lyrics to one of these songs and you're gonna look like a freakin dinosaur for asking "What is that, One Direction? Any of you kids ever heard of Placebo? Now that was a boy band..."

This satirical piece highlights all the criticisms that boy bands face in the public eye but it also touches upon one very important factor: their songs are addictive. The author, despite her disdain for the generic pop that she feels New District represents, could not help but begin to hum “Ain’t Got Money” to herself after watching the music video dozens of times. Hate them or love them, VICE knows that New District is here to stay and that everyone should just accept it. The boys loved the article so much that they reposted it on their Facebook page. Talent and a sense of humor? Now that’s a recipe for world domination.
