How To Stay Confident

How To Stay Confident

When you take that bold step as an artist to go public with your talents, there are the expected pitfalls that can undermine your progress. Those that are external are generally out of your control, but there's a major stumbling block that you can surmount, because it's all on you: the mistake of underestimating yourself.

Simply put, don't do it. Instead, do whatever you can to put yourself in the best position to succeed. If you have skills that you want to share with the world, don't be shy or insecure, but be prepared. Hone your talents so you always know that you're giving your best. Be willing to put in the time and effort to refine your art. Don't be put off by critics and naysayers. You are your most important and reliable critic.

Don't bother trying to judge yourself in relation to other artists. You are unique, so worry about your work, not that of your peers. That said, a supportive environment is a healthy environment for creative people, so surround yourself with those who believe in you, not those who would tear you down.

Be good to yourself. Respect yourself. Take care of yourself. Your health and well-being will allow you to be your best as an artist and a person. As long as you believe in yourself, your talent, and your art, you will be ahead of the game.
