Rihanna To Win 2016 Vanguard Video Award

Rihanna is set to receive the coveted Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at this year’s VMAs, airing August 28th. She will be joining the ranks of Beyonce, Janet Jackson, and Madonna as well many other talented musicians. Will you tune in to watch Rhi Rhi’s VMA performance?

 

The pop star expressed her excitement after the big announcement with a tweet that read, “Honored to take the #VMAs stage as your video #VANGUARD award recipient LIVE from NYC on August 28!"

 

Rihanna has always wowed her fans with stunning visuals from the mini short “Bitch Better Have My Money” where she and her crew of bandits kidnap a wealthy housewife to “Man Down”, which was filmed in Jamaica and explores sexual violence and its repercussions. The singer is nominated for four other awards including best male video for “This Is What You Came for”, best female video for “Work”, and collaboration awards for the two videos mentioned previously.

The Video Music Awards will be held at New York’s famous Madison Square Garden and will air on Sunday, August 28th at 9 p.m.
