Introducing Outside Lands

Introducing Outside Lands

The 9th annual Outside Lands, a popular music festival held yearly in San Francisco, is opening this Friday, August 5th, in Golden State Park. With so many popular California festivals, what sets this summer event apart from the rest? Read on to find out!

California hosts its share of music festivals and to the untrained eye they can begin to blur together. Outside Lands attendees boast that the 3-day extravaganza held in Northern California is unique and not to be missed. The first thing to note about this mega-concert is its location. San Francisco is well known to have sweater weather and the month of August is no exception. Bundle up for this music festival because it’s no fun to shiver through your favorite artist’s set!

Another thing to consider is the audience that Outside Lands attracts. Music festivals are usually a millennial playground but OSL appeals to a wide range of ages. The family friendly environment means no one has to be left out of the fun. Grandma wants to come? No problem! Lionel Richie performs Sunday night so go ahead and snag her a ticket.

But festivals aren’t just about the music anymore. Concert guests expend a lot of energy dancing and moving from stage to stage and nowadays a hot dog and pretzel don’t cut it. San Francisco is known as a foodie mecca so trust us, you won’t go hungry at Outside Lands. As an ode to its name, the festival hosts a series of “lands” within Golden Gate Park that entice the senses: there’s Beer Lands, Choco Lands, Bacon Lands, Cheese Lands, Wine Lands and more. Nepalese restaurant “Bini’s Kitchen” will be serving up their signature Himalayan soul food while Zagat rated “Rich Table” fries up porcini doughnuts. Needless to say, this isn’t typical festival food.

Outside Lands is an exceptional festival that moves beyond the common concert experience. From the cozy location to the top notch cuisine, music lovers of all ages can find something to enjoy.
