Ryan Villanueva Pugal aka Ryan Lagup (La-Goo) an American Filipino Entrepreneur based out of Honolulu, Hawaii. He was a top five finalist on season one’ Fame cast talent competition which attracted national and international exposure for Ryan achieving virtual fame and success worldwide.
On March 26th Ryan released his latest album titled, “Beat Shop”, via Movement Records. The album includes 13 original songs written by Ryan during a covid lockdown. Stuck in his home struggling with the pandemic Ryan was motivated on making new music and experimenting with a new sound and style. Just getting out of a 9 year relationship Ryan began writing on feelings and emotions he felt and found himself writing most about his breakup. As depressing as it sounds, the album is not depressing at all, it’s not an album of break up ballads that makes you go in a room and cry. The album has no slow ballads and features only upbeat, uptempo tracks that also includes love, sex, fantasy and fun.
The first single from the album titled, “Never Did”, released on August 5th and debut on the iTunes Top 100 singles chart at No.3 selling 30K worldwide with streams and digital sales combined.
Ryan has dreams of building a family business empire which consists of many business ventures. He decided during this pandemic that it would be the right time to start some of these ventures. He partnered with Alive shoes and began designing a line of shoes. The shoes are a high end quality that are made in Italy and the material is only the best promising you can get a full refund if you are unsatisfied with the product. Lagup Shoes by Ryan Pugal launched in September 2020 with two designs by Ryan and was a hit in the UK selling 22 pairs in the first month. For Ryan, it was a success and a blessing. Today Lagup Shoes has 31 shoe designs by Ryan and are on sale online.
Before professionally going by the name Ryan Lagup. He went by his legal name Ryan Pugal and was known best for competing in the talent competition famecast season one in 2007 where he beat out thousands in a grueling 3 month competition and the voting audience members at home voted Ryan into the Top 5. Ryan was a top five finalist and at the finals In Austin, TX he placed in fourth and won the overall Best Artist Promotion Award. Post Famecast, from 2007 to 2013 Ryan released 5 independent studio albums, featured on the Radio Now Vol.8 compilation cd, appeared on many mix-tapes, toured throughout Hawaii & the US mainland, opened and sang a long side major artist Stevie B., Nicole Scherzinger, Jocelyn enriquez to name a few and even was the lead vocal for Hawaiis Top 40 cover band “FUSION”, Ryan also had the opportunity to sing the national anthem to a sold out arena at the stand sheriff center and was aired live on ESPN, he also sang the national anthem and was the Half-time entertainment for X-1 world events MMA fights here in Honolulu and Las Vegas. Ryan also went back to his roots and released his first filipino song, “Pa’ano and Puso Ko” a Tagalog cover originally done by the April boys. Ryan was a hit in the filipino market and was booked at almost every filipino event in Hawaii, Ryan also was asked to perform in San Francisco’s Filipino Fiesta event along side many asian singers from the Philippines.
