Beyonce celebrates the 5th anniversary of her landmark album: ‘Lemonade’

On the 5th anniversary of Beyonce’s historic album Lemonade, the singer is looking back on her iconic release. The superstar took to her Instagram account last Friday celebrating by posting a gallery of photos from the project and remarking that it is “one of [her] favorite pieces of  art.”

“I’m grateful that this body of work has resonated so deeply with so many people,” she captioned the post, “I’m so thankful for all the beautiful souls involved in making one of my favorite pieces of art. As I celebrate five years of LEMONADE, I encourage everyone to continue healing, loving forgiving and uplifting.”

Beyonce’s Lemonade was released on April 23, 2016 on a same-titled film that premiered on HBO. This visual album of 12 songs was released following the film’s debut.

With big hits on the album like “Formation,” “All Night,” “Sorry,” and “Hold Up,” it was no wonder that Lemonade debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Remarkably, after the album’s release, all 12 of the songs on the album debuted on the Billboard Hot 100.
