Quincy Jones Gives Fans an Inside Story on Michael Jackson's “I Can’t Stop Loving You”

The lead single off Michael Jackson’s album, Bad, was the pop ballad, "I Just Can't Stop Loving You." Even though the song was initially plotted to be a duet with a fellow megastar, Siedah Garrett, a mostly unknown songwriter from Quincy Jones' crew, was chosen as its female lead. The song became the set's first Hot 100 No. 1 in September 1987.

According to the producer, Quincy Jones: “Michael wanted Streisand or Whitney to sing that song with him. While he was doing that, I just pushed Siedah on the song, and she loved it. He loved her.”
