Chance the Rapper Launches 'Rapper Radio' Campaign

Chance the Rapper wants to make sure that your favorite independent artists get the radio time that they deserve so he created ‘Rapper Radio’. Thank you Chance! Wait, can we call you Chance?

RapperRadio.com is a platform where music lovers can easily request lesser known artists to be played on big name radio stations. This crowd-sourced campaign launched on August 16th and utilizes Twitter to help fans across the country reach their local radio stations. The interface is fairly simple: you type the name of the city you live in and the site provides a list of local radio stations to choose from. You click on the radio station you would like to reach and the site provides a pre-written tweet that tags the chosen radio station as well as a link back the initial site.

The only two songs available to request at the moment are “No Problem” ft. Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz and “Summer Friends” ft. Jeremih and Francis & the Lights. Both of these songs are from Chance’s latest album Coloring Book. Critics are quick to note that Chance the Rapper is already a popular mainstream artist and may not necessarily need the same type of promotion that other independent artists survive on.

The hip hop artist promises to extend his ‘Rapper Radio’ services to other independent musicians. He recently tweeted that, “It’s time to show ppl what independent music can do.” This is great news for artists everywhere and the music industry as a whole.
