Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil to Russian parents in 1958, Walter Afanasieff, a.k.a. Walter A, is a multi Grammy Award winning songwriter/producer who is known for his work with some of the biggest names in music history — Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Josh Groban, Barbra Streisand, Luther Vandross, Kenny G, Michael Bolton Marc Anthony and many others.

Afanasieff began his career in San Francisco, CA playing and writing for Narada Michael Walden who has worked with artists such as: Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and Jefferson Starship.

Some of Afanasieff’s biggest songs as writer and producer are “Hero”, “All I Want For Christmas Is You, “My All, “Butterfly”, “One Sweet Day” — Mariah Carey, “Beauty And The Beast”, “My Heart Will Go On”- Celine Dion, “Insatiable” “I Knew I Loved You” Darren Hayes and Savage Garden, “My Baby You” Marc Anthony and “She Bangs”- Ricky Martin to name a few.

Afanasieff resides in Los Angeles, CA where he is currently writing musicals, film scores as well as continuing his songwriting and producing for some of the biggest artists today.
