Hi, my name is Carlos Mario Munoz. I was born in Colombia in 1986.
I started to play instruments at 9 years old, playing first Harp, Bass, Percussion, and finally the Acoustic Guitar.
Althought I studied some months on a university, I continued teaching myself because I didn't have money to pay tuitions.
So, I play the guitar in different latin genres, and some classical, playing my own instrumental arrangements for soloist guitar, or accompanying important singers, violinists, saxophones, etc.
I won a USD10.000 Berklee college of music scholarship on october 2013, but again, I had no money to complete the tuition.
I had a visión for six strings: hybridate and work hard on techniques, to communicate music through a soloist guitar, making it sound like two or three guitars, and using popular songs to connect people with me and my music; create bridges.
Music is my highest passion, and by the way, my tool to live. I don't have alternative jobs.
I play on every stage: from streets to great theaters, from Classical to latin folk music (Tango, Salsa, Bossanova, etc), soloist or beside a band.
Actually, I'm completing my first CD, with original arrangements and compositions for guitar. I've recorded 6 pieces of 12. I hope to get the enough money and time to finish the work this year.
My principal dream is to create a guitar show with me on front, playing my music and mixing some other surprising instruments/styles live, and travel giving concerts around the world.
I think music has the power to conmove, touch hearts and minds, and to make a better world.
Actually, nylon acoustic guitar seems to be "stopped" on it's evolution. Classical and Folk/Popular guitarists are forgetting the importance of "arriving" to people's soul. Listening to acoustic music on a concert is time by time, creating a wall between musician/spectator. It looks like the attendants are obligated to appreciate an stiff player and his music, more than enjoy. Using electroacustic alternatives and different art disciplines on stage, a musician can envolve persons easily, giving a succesfull music experience from chamber to exterior sets. It´s not only about hear music, is more! it's about create a sensation!
Thanks for this chance, for your patience with my english skills, and I hope you contact me!
