Andrei Katikov was born in Minsk in 1992. He started learning music at the age of six as a result of the wish of his parents. First he started to copy the music his father listened to. At the age of seven he began to learn play classical piano professionally. After a year he entered a choir and played some gigs around the school.
When Andrei was fourteen he graduated from a music school as a piano player and after two years he switched his instrument to guitar. After a year and a half he entered the University of Modern Knowledge as a guitar player and began to study with the most famous blues player of Belarus, Serjuk Truchkanovich, who taught him the beauty of the blues genre.
At the age of 18, he and his friend created a rock band called The Feedback which played the repertoire of legendary bands, The Beatles and Queen. They won a couple of prestigious festivals and performed well-known masterpieces by legendary British bands all over the country.
After two years of studying at University of Modern Knowledge, Andrei decided to travel to Ankara in Turkey to audition for Berklee College of Music.
In 2012 he started his studies at Berklee. After the first semester he declared a Performance Major as a blues player. This first year at Berklee gave him an opportunity to work with the legendary guitar player, Steve Vai.
During Andrei’s 3rd semester he realized that there were many interesting genres besides blues and rock, therefore he began to learn jazz music with a David Gilmour, who played with guitar-great Adam Rogers. Andrei also began to develop his vocal skills. He started taking private voice lesson and a short time later he recorded his first solo song called “Close to You” by the Carpenters. His recording of the song has lately been playing on radio stations in Belgium, Russia, and Belarus.
Besides his musical and academic accomplishments, Andrei is a professional dancer, who has won many competitions in Minsk.
